Fall Assessment Results to Go Home on Thursday, 10/10

On Thursday of this week, we will be sending home student results for our fall testing this year. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 2 will bring home reports illustrating their performance on the AIMSweb fall assessment, while students in Grade 3 through 5 will bring home reports from their NWEA fall assessment. If you have questions about these results you can contact your child’s teacher or me at 524-8733, or by email.

As a reminder, schools in Laconia are closed on Friday, October 11^th, for teacher training, and on Monday, October 14^th, in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.

Woodland Heights School, a 21st Century Learning Community!

Woodland Heights School is an Open-Concept public K-5 elementary school serving a diverse population of over 500 child and adult learners. In response to both the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead, our school community is in the process of a major initiative to become a '21st Century Learning Community'. What's that all about? Fundamentally, it is a commitment to teach more than the '3-Rs' (Reading, wRiting, & aRithmetic). This is due to our acknowledgement that the workplace and world of tomorrow will demand far more of its citizens. At Woodland Heights, we will sharpen our emphasis on teaching our students the '5-Cs' (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical thinking and global Citizenship). This program will be largely facilitated by the skillful integration of 21st Century Learning and Communication Tools (computers, internet, netbooks, LCD projectors, interactice whiteboards, digital cameras, video cameras, document cameras, headsets & microphones, etc.). At WHS, our students will not only be the receivers of knowledge, but will also become collaborative problem-solvers and creators of knowledge!
